SERGEANT GEORGE E. HIGHT, JR.
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS
for outstanding achievement in the superior performance
of his duties in the field of leadership achievement as set forth in
the following CITATION:
"While serving with the Third Battalion, Twenty-Seventh Marines, First
Marine Division in connection with operations against the enemy in the
Republic of Vietnam from 20 February to 13 September 1968, Sergeant
HIGHT performed his duties in an exemplary and highly competent manner.
As Tactical Air Control Party Chief, he displayed outstanding leadership
and initiative despite extremely adverse conditions and the difficulties
of a combat environment. Distinguishing himself by his consistently
high level of efficiency, he materially enhanced the operational effectiveness
and combat readiness of his unit. , Prior to his unit's deployment to
the Republic of Vietnam, he instituted a comprehensive training program
for his inexperienced personnel which greatly enhanced their proficiency
and enabled his section to provide outstanding tactical air control
support to the battalion during numerous combat operations. As a result
of his diligence and seemingly unlimited resourcefulness, he gained
the respect and admiration of all who observed him and contributed significantly
to the accomplishment of his unit's mission. Sergeant HIGHT's outstanding
professional ability, untiring determination and steadfast devotion
to duty throughout reflect great credit upon himself, the Marine Corps
and the Naval Service.
