George,
Did the song start with:
We are men who came to fight?
We are the pride of America's might
We are Marines and here to stay
We will fight till our dying day?

A lot of the words have jumbled in my mind since then.

3rd plt. I company

I go to the wed site now and then to remind me of where I come from and what we have been thought. I feel sad about my fellow Marines that not make it. I think about them all the time. I will never forget about them.
I try to live my life the best I can so I can live for them.
Wish all of you a HAPPY 4th OF JULY.
Sgt. De Leon, Domingo (Mingo)
Right Guard I CO 3/27 Marines

Had lunch today with Capts Zilipski and John Ernest AND ROY CASTEEL AND SKI gave me the words to a song written about 3/27 and the music tune is to the ballad of the Green Berets. If any one knows about this song , please contact me. I have a copy of the song but it is really beat up after so many years. no one in a lunch group knew about the song.

Good to see Steve back on our site and Bob (whom I met in Little Rock) as well. Margot, my last words to SSgt Whyte while we were pinned down on May 28 and he came sliding up to me asking, " what do we do now lieutenant?" I replied, "tell second squad that our orders are to get into the tree line and get back to me. Tanks are being sent up."
He followed 2nd squad to the tree line. I initiated the silver star award for he and Cpl. John Hazelwood. I have no idea how any of us survived that day....and I had only been in country four days.

Chuck was my friend. He helped me out as I was a new guy to Vietnam as were most of us.

Thank you for your post Margot Whyte Hamilton. We also remember Sgt. Whyte. Just a reminder to all that are reading the 3/27 guest book posts, Not only did Sgt Whyte die in combat on May 28th But he died in his selfless attempt to locate and help other fellow marines who were in serious trouble engaged at close range with the enemy and pinned down. And I was one of those marines that Charles was trying to locate and help. Steve Easton "I" Company

Thinking of all of You Marines I was lucky to serve with. Remember those that didn't make it, and be thankful you did.
